The poet who believed in noble thoughts. The mental attitude of Viktor Dyk toward fascism
Vopatová, Nicola ; Koura, Petr (advisor) ; Pokorný, Jiří (referee)
This diploma thesis will study the mental attitude of Viktor Dyk (poet, prose writer, and politician) to fascism. The aim of this thesis is to understand the development of his thinking, identify the key historic moments that shaped him, and in doing so, reconstruct his political opinion. Those historic moments are most importantly the events of December 1987, the first world war, the fall of the Habsburg monarchy and the creation of the Czechoslovakian republic (1914-1918). The year 1922 (in which the first fascist groups in Czechoslovakia were created) was crucial for the shaping of his relationship to fascism. The goal of this work is to evaluate, whether Viktor Dyk leaned towards fascism or not. To allow us to study Dyk's relationship to fascism, the first part is dedicated to defining fascism. Afterwards we define the basic principles on which fascism stands. A short chapter is dedicated to Dyk's life, which is important to understand his worldview. The objective of the second part is to analyse Dyk's position on the fascist principles, which were defined in the first part. For this analysis, Dyk's poems, political speeches, journal articles and his prosaic works were used. In the framework of the three principles of fascism (leader, state, and nationalism) are also analysed the motives, which...

Kovářová, Stefanie ; Pokorná, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Parkan, František (referee)
This thesis handles with the events concerning the school law amendment from 1883. It is well known that it was considerably controversial as well as regressive school policy in the Austrian Empire. This policy was aggressively fought over. One of the most prominent characters of the fights was František Tilšer - the only czech member of parliament that didn't vote for the reform. He became the target of incendiary press campaign. This thesis will briefly introduce the legislative developments of school law since the beginning of compulsory school attendance up until the aforementioned amendment. The core of this work lies in analysis of the given problematics in Czech and German period press. The text analysis deals with papers that present wide range of opinions: Národní listy, Politik, Bohemia and Čech. The thesis is thus a probe of political culture of the second part of the 19. century in the Habsburg monarchy as well. Comparison of experience of men and women participants of the Czech local politics from the gender perspective
Šmejkalová, Jana ; Pavlík, Petr (advisor) ; Knotková - Čapková, Blanka (referee)
Although the representation of women in terms of the Czech local politics is higher than on regional and state level, still their total number does not reach the participation of men by far. In addition, women are more present on lower decision-making positions of local politics. It is possible to say that women are disadvantaged by the current political and social environment. The qualitative research used in the present paper focuses itself on the reflections of male and female politicians regarding their participation in local politics, whereas their consensus and differences in opinions are monitored especially in regards to such topics as mandatory gender quotas, position of men and women in the local politics, discrimination, and distribution of political agenda as per gender. It has been demonstrated that "the second shift" is the most important factor in the eyes of both male and female politicians, making the involvement of women in the local politics much more difficult. Stereotyped statements of politicians of both genders illustrate the image of the local politics as a significantly male dominated enviroment, where a woman can prove herself only after winning the imaginary battle with the whole system (and after overcoming the intra-party barriers) and for the price of a demanding...
The image of David Rath in chosen media
Trsek, Karel ; Osvaldová, Barbora (advisor) ; Trunečková, Ludmila (referee)
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the development of media image of David Rath in two selected Czech journals (Lidové noviny and Právo). Its primary goal is to find out what were the consequences of Rath's corruption scandal. For this purpose, three distinctive time periods were considered in relation to the most current development of the affair. Today, the case has not yet been closed, which is the reason why the structure of this thesis differs from the former proposition as crucial changes took place in Rath's case over the last year. In theoretical part of the thesis, role of media in politics and society is explained. Further on, representation and media image are defined and basic theories that are applied during the creation of media image are presented. David Rath is also briefly introduced, as well as a summary of his corruption affair. Quantitative and qualitative methods of research are described in methodological part of the thesis and their selected combination is then defined for content analysis, for which Newton Media SEARCH was used as the source of information. Outcome of this work is an analytical section with a presentation of acquired results that also serve as answers to the posed hypotheses. Thanks to that we can compare the analyzed content of the two specified journals.
Jaroslav Hašek - author of short stories, journalist and politics
Felenda, Šimon ; Novotný, David Jan (advisor) ; Osvaldová, Barbora (referee)
The diploma thesis analyzes and compares three life and social roles of one of the most well-known writers of Czech literature, Jaroslav Hasek. Specifically, it is his role as a storyteller, a journalist and a politician. My work is focused on the analysis of the blend and differences between these roles pertaining to the development and context of both the time period and Hasek. The analysis is divided into several parts and it tries to view Hasek from different points of view. Specifically, it deals with the author's historical genesis, then with the narratological analysis of short stories and finally the content analysis associated with the reference to Jaroslav Hasek's language resources.

A journalist as a politician - case study of Martin Komárek
Davidová, Adéla ; Moravec, Václav (advisor) ; Osvaldová, Barbora (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the process of transition of professional journalists into active policy. By exploring a particular journalist, it tries to reach a general conclusion on what motivates journalists to become politics. The subject of the thesis is to place this phenomenon in the context of journalistic ethics and to find answers to whether it is possible to practice both professions at the same time - eventually in what form. The thesis is methodologically conducted as a case study and combines a thorough interview with content analysis. Martin Komárek, the main actor of case studies, has been a long-standing commentary of Mladá fronta, later Mladá fronta DNES. In 2013, he decided to leave the media and became a member of the political movement ANO 2011 founded by billionaire Andrej Babiš. It was Martin Komárek who criticized Babiš several times in his texts as a reporter. His change of opinion on Andrej Babiš was therefore a great surprise. Further examples of five selected journalists who made a similar decision as Martin Komárek did and entered into politics are given in the third part of the thesis.
